When my wife and I started a blog a few months ago, I knew it would serve as a good way for us to express our thoughts and feelings about our upcoming move and as a first-hand historical source for us to look back to of all the things surrounding our move. I also expected that we'd get some feedback along the way. In another blog I have, sometimes random people would stop by and comment, and with the relatively-more-interesting topic of this blog, I was looking forward to the occasional anonymous visitor here, who would answer some of our questions, challenge some of our reasons, and offer support. So far, though, the only feedback has been from one of the few people we told about the blog. Anyway, I hope some people will run across this blog sometime soon and start commenting.
We moved to Seattle in February 2008 and shared blog posts and photos during our first few years in Seattle.

I'm reading it as I want to urban Seattle as well. Fortunately I still have at least another year of college and a job that can help me save money.
This blog is going to be our guide for the next year! My boyfriend and I are planning on moving from Long Island, NY and relocating to the Seattle area. We've just begun our research process and have spent a lot of time on Wiki pages and school websites (as we are both teachers). Your blog has given us inspiration and a "game plan"! We made sure to start reading from the beginning of your journey and look forward to reading a little bit of it every night!
Thanks for reading! It's always cool to get comments like yours. We were hoping this blog would help other people who want to move here get a feel for what a great city and environment it is. They don't call it the Emerald City for nothing - it's one of the most beautiful cities in the US. Hope you enjoy the blog and let us know if you have any specific questions.
A few years later and I, too, am reading your blog as inspiration for our future move!! Great blog!!! Thank you.
We're reading too as we also want to move to Seattle! You are very helpful, its great to see that others had the same thoughts and feelings as us and actually did it. Congrats and we hope to join you soon! :D
It's 2012 and I just came across your blog. I'm considering the same move from Chicago..thanks for the blog....really helps!
I'm reading your blog in 2012 - 5 years in the future! I have 1.5 years left of graduate school and am getting my feet wet now. Glad to have stumbled upon your blog.
I love this blog! Me and my boyfriend live in louisiana and want to make the same move, we needed some guidance and that relatability you guys have to the south.
I've been looking for a blog on someone's experience of relocating by choice rather than to be with someone already living there or for a job. My husband and I are seriously considering doing this next year and I'm looking forward to reading through your experience.
I'm just coming across this blog now but I am so happy it exists! My girlfriend and I are in the same situation as you. We've lived in Georgia for far too long and we have just visited Seattle. Now all we want to do is move to downtown Seattle and hopefully improve our lives! Thanks for putting this stuff out there. It will help me immensely.
I just started reading your blog and I too wanted to move to seattle. This weekend I will devote my time looking for job in seattle. This blog really inspired me and Thank you. Hopefully I will find a job right away just like you.
I have just started reading your blog. I am a freshman in college, and so desperately want to move up to Seattle when I graduate. I hope to use this as a guide.
For what it's worth (4 years later), my wife and I are Dallas residents and are strongly considering a move to Seattle. I've even started to reach out to a few law firms there (I'm an attorney). Your blog is great...I'm just getting into it and will probably read through the whole thing tonight!
My husband and I are considering a move from DFW to the Seattle area. Just today I came across your blog and am so excited to read everything you two have experienced along your journey! Congrats on a major move & I can't wait to delve into your story!
It is 2013, I I found your blog! Thank you from making it. We currently live in Alaska and we are planning to move there by September.
Hello there, you're probably over your blog by now, but I just found it this morning while waiting for my laundry to dry. I am going to use it to plan my move to the Pacific Northwest. So excited!
I just found your blog too. I just started reading from the beginning and it is interesting so far. We too live on Dallas and are planning to move to Seattle. So this blog would definitely help us. Thanks
New reader here! :) And I'm reading every post since the beginning. My wife and I are very interested in exploring Seattle as our next move from Euless,TX. Your blog is extremely helpful! Thanks for taking time to give your insight. I just got started, but I'm enjoying reading it so far.
Just came across your blog here and I am happy to get some real insight on moving to Seattle . I too plan on moving to Seattle from Los Angeles. I'm trying to find a good place to live and any suggestions would be greatly appreciate . Thank you
Just came across your blog and I'm so very happy that it exists! I live in Michigan and have been seriously considering moving to Seattle with a few friends.
I want to say a big thank you to you two, this blog has inspired me to start planning for my move, whenever that winds up being.
Again, thanks Troy and Lesley!
ps. your blog is the first result when you google "move to seattle", pretty neat, huh?
Here it is, almost 2014. Thank you for starting the blog. We are also looking to move to Seattle. I've bookmarked you and will be reading about your adventure.
My husband and I are moving to Seattle in two weeks from Austin! I'm so glad I came across this blog!
Just found this, and my husband and I are also planning a move to the Northwest hopefully by this summer. Can't wait to keep reading!
I'm sure you have tons of readers now, haha! Add me to the list - I got interested in Seattle when someone told me about the "Seattle Freeze" (this person had lived there and didn't like that aspect of Seattelites.) Well, I thought they sounded just like my kind of people so now I'm scouring the interwebs for info on Seattle. Your blog is the most informative by far, and it's a a lot of fun to read about your adventures! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this!
Came across your blog today as my husband and I (and kids) are planning a move to Seattle. We still have a few years yet before we hit the road. I recently graduated nursing school and I want to get some experience before I leave. I started from the beginning and plan to read all of your blogs for insight on the move. Thanks for the blog. So tired of this Las Vegas heat.
Add another new reader to the list. I have been looking for information for the past week or so and came across your blog. Looking for as much information as possible. Thank you for taking the time to create this.
Your blog will be our guide for the next year. Me, my boyfriend and my son will be moving from Austin, TX to Seattle in a year. Thank you for making this blog!
I also will be using your blog as a guide for my planned move to Seattle. I hope to do it soon, but it's looking like at least 2 years before I can. Either way, I'm going to live there! Seattle or bust! :) Thank you for posting these!
And count me as yet another reader of your blog. We are trying to decide where to move. It is going to either be Seattle, or Europe. I think that Seattle will be an easier move for the rest of the family. As I was raised in Europe, I do not see a move back there as daunting, but it is different for the rest of my family. I hope to get a general idea of exploring the various neighborhoods in order to find a suitable place in which to settle. Can't wait to read the rest of your tale.
Now it's almost 2015. Reading blog to get info on our move from Alabama. Been here for 2 years, had moved from our home in Florida. We have 3 kids so need all the info I can get. They really prefer florida, not the other side of the country. Hoping for good things for our family. Starting at the beginning and reading all of it!
Reading your blog in 2016! We are moving from Houston to Seattle! I am starting from the oldest posts and moving up to the new ones!
