A beautiful day in the neighborhood
Posted by Troy at 4:00 PM
It was sunny Saturday afternoon and there was an art walk in our neighborhood, so I figured it was a good time to go for a walk. We stopped by a local bookstore to check out some art they had posted, share a cup of tea, and sit down and read, while a acoustic guitarist played for the bookstore. After that, we saw some un-leased retail space being used as an art gallery. We walked through and browsed the art while finishing our tea. Later on, we headed up the hill to pick up a book for me to read. I got a Benjamin Franklin autobiography published in 1939 with a 25 cent price printed on the cover, which the cashier rang up for 12 cents. We also picked up a book on wine. It was a nice afternoon.

why'd you decide on that book?
I've been wanting to read a good biography and all the ones on Churchill were at least 5 times the size.
It's the first book in a while that I'll be reading without it being given or recommended to me.
but why one so old? new information is discovered all the time, and the way history is written has changed a lot since then, too. older works are valuable, of course, but more for historiographical reasons than educational ones, usually.
I have a wine guide for dummies. what kind of wine book did you get?
We just got a comprehensive, introduction book about it. It's called "Wine: an introduction" by Joanna Simon.
It talks about the different grapes used for all types of wine and where they're made. It also talks about what wines go good with which foods and stuff. Nothing you couldn't find on the internet, but sometimes it's nice to have a book in front of you.
